Position Overview
We are seeking a Freelance Junior Publicist to support our growing roster of nonprofit and pet/veterinary industry clients. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, passionate about media and pets and eager to learn the ins and outs of agency PR. The position is remote and offers the opportunity to work directly with senior leadership on high-profile projects.
Responsibilities
- Research and compile targeted media lists using Muck Rack across nonprofit, pet product, and veterinary services sectors
- Conduct background research to support pitches, new business opportunities, and campaign development
- Track, monitor, and report media coverage for clients
- Draft and send media pitches; assist in coordinating interviews and follow-up
- Maintain and update agency media lists to ensure accuracy and relevancy
- Provide general research support to senior leadership as needed
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in PR, communications, or related internships (agency or nonprofit experience a plus)
- Familiarity with Muck Rack (or similar media database tools)
- Strong research, organizational, and writing skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Enthusiasm for media, storytelling, and the pet industry
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
