Great news! Paws PR Founder and President Patricia Jones has been nominated for the second consecutive year as a finalist in the Pet Industry Woman of the Year Award competition in the category of “Advocate.” Congratulations, Patricia!

Patricia E. Jones, founder and President of Paws PR in New York City has been named a finalist in the Pet Industry Woman of the Year Award competition for the second year in a row. Jones was again honored with a nomination in the 2014 Advocate category. She and 24 others will move on to compete within the categories and finally, for the Woman of the Year Award at an awards ceremony on August 16, 2014. The awards will be presented by the Women in the Pet Industry Network, a worldwide networking organization.
“The Pet Industry Women of the Year Awards were designed to recognize the amazing females who dedicate their time and talents to improving the lives of all pets – dogs, cats, birds, fish, horses and exotics – and their parents,” said Shawna Schuh, president of WIPIN. “The Awards are a celebration of women who have devoted their lives to the pet industry and shine as beacons of women helping women and pets with passion. Every finalist does the industry proud.”
In 2005, Jones launched P Jones Communications, and has led successful, integrated campaigns on behalf of a variety of clients. Paws PR, a division of P Jones Communications, is a marketing company focused on raising awareness for pet product companies and animal protection organizations. During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Jones’ efforts to raise media awareness of a nonprofit’s animal rescue work resulted in over 8 million dollars in donations to the charity.
“What an honor to be named a finalist alongside so many other accomplished women who are dedicated to making the world a better place for animals,” said Jones. “I could not have achieved this level of success without the many accomplished and passionate professionals on my team, namely Paws PR Vice President Elizabeth Putsche.
Recently, Elizabeth launched a nonprofit organization, Photographers for Animals. I am a founding board member of this charitable organization that will help animals through photography and videography and be supported via a portion of profits from Paws PR.”
After graduating New York University, Patricia’s career began at NBC News as a Page. She soon joined NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, as a production assistant and shortly rose to the level of producer for the broadcast. Jones’ lifelong interest in animal protection guided her next career move to Director of Media Relations at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). She was quickly promoted to Vice President of Media Relations and Advertising, where she remained for seven years.
Award categories in the Pet Industry Woman of the Year Award include Solopreneur, Entrepreneur, Corporation, Advocate and Rising Star. Five finalists were named in each category, and one overall Pet Industry Women of the Year will be chosen from the 25 finalists and presented at the Woman of the Year Award ceremony held the evening of Aug. 16 in conjunction with the Women in the Pet industry Conference in Portland, OR. A panel of four independent judges reviewed and scored nominations in the five categories.
